Famous Japanese singer Gackt has broken new grounds by participating for the very first time in a drama set in ancient times. He plays one of the lead characters in NHK's great annual drama Wind, Forest, Fire, Mountain (loose translation). The story is about the Japanese war era and the man nicknamed Godly-General.
At yesterday's press conference, Gackt wore black sunglasses and a black suit. Posing with his head arrogantly in the air, he really stood out while posing with the other actors.
And this is Gackt's first drama set in ancient times! He who usually spots dyed long locks, colored contacts and emulates Caucasians for his appearance - it is hard to believe that he would 1 day act in a drama set in the past and be one of the lead characters!
However, Gackt himself seems pretty confident. As known, Gackt has wore colored cosmetic contacts for many years, but in this ancient-theme drama, he cannot appear with different colored eyes Japanese. Gackt reveals that as long as the director says something, he will immediately recover back to his original black colored eyes.
Production Director decided to use Gackt for the drama was because he saw Gackt's stunning pose while riding horses in the Tokyo Dome's December concert. The director immediately felt that "nobody would be up for the task but him (Gackt)".
As mentioned by the Japanese media, even though Gackt's role is very heavy in the show, the other actors have great credentials (eg kabuki experts) and this promises that the show will definitely be exciting.
