I feel like in the last couple of years I learned so much about human nature. And frankly most of these things suck. Like how you always want things that are hard to get or how you only treasure things after you lose them. Lately I also hate it how quickly I get used to good things. I can't watch old lives that were so hard to get becuase they look awful compared to HD and today I mope and feel so fucking needy because I spent yesterday having amazing chat with this one person and today she didn't show up.

GEMINI

I got their first album almost 5 years ago, downloaded a few songs sometime later and that was about it. It is only recently that I actually caught up and discovered they have released 3 more albums since then. I didn't expect much, but I listened to them one by one. Alpha left me largely unimpressed and Vandalize had several tracks that I really liked. I left the last one for later. So it's only about t week ago that I listened to GEMINI properly and it came as a big surprise, how good it was. I feel such a strange feeling of pride because I sort of began listening to them when they were just starting and now they got so far. Long gone are freaky doll-make-up and shorts, they have matured so much both in terms of looks and music. It's been a long time since I listened to a new rock album and even longer since I've been impressed by one. But they did it. I think most tracks are quite good, but I've especially grown to like the Gemini trilogy. I love when tracks just blur into one, it seems very non-conformist. I haven't heard anything of the sort since Mansun. Saga is my least favourite, but I have huge respect got him since he wrote most of the music. KING&QUEEN is also very cool. Also I remember back in the day everyone was bitching about Shou's vocals. I admit he's far from being among the best, but he seems to try hard and he's gotten better. He talks a lot better too and doesn't blink as hard, I bet he worked hard on that. They got No.3 on Oricon which is pretty good for a rock album. Way to go!~

* Don't remember the last time I read a deathfic and I certainly don't think there was a time it didn't leave me with a bitter after-taste. I'm so making that poster for her.

* As a fan there's nothing better than a new fresh fandom with many things to discover. And sometimes all you need is someone to have pointless incoherent chats, like: "OMG! THATWASSOHOT!" and "I KNOW, RIGHT!!!!!!!" I'm so glad to have found that.

Immortal Song 2

Actually I was just going to watch Hongki's performance, but after I saw him being ranked 4th I just had to know who he lost to. I have to say I'm disappointed. Here I thought singers will finally be judged fairly, but they are judged by the audience and I can't even imagine what criteria they may have. I really think HongKi was great but I was even more impressed by G.O who I never saw before, but he was just brilliant, really. Why Junsu won is beyond me. Having said that, there's a different Junsu that really should be there.

But above all I feel so bad for Hongki. He looked so serious, haven't smiled once in all the time they showed him. I also noticed in all the recent lives he was so into the song it looked like he was in pain. I'm a bit worried. He's matured handsomely and he's become an even better singer and performer, but I really want to see him smile more.

A couple of days ago I wanted to look up some Gackt lyric and realized I don't have the original kanji, only transcripts. "Now that just won't do," I thought. So I found and saved them song by song. About 90 of them. The funny thing is I actually tried to count how many songs he has so far and through my comprehensive count not including all the numerous versions and including the latest Episode 0 I came up with 100 exactly!

I also realized that until now I don't even know some of the song's names' meanings so I fixed that unforgivable gap. I realized that now I am finally at a stage when I can more or less understand the lyrics. I still remember some 6 years ago, when it seemed basically impossible to grasp and now... I still don't know about half of the kanji, but that is how I learn. It's really exciting since basically these very lyrics were the main reason I began learning Japanese in the first place. Being a translator I know very well how unreliable a translation may be so I always want to experience the text first-hand.

Japanese lyricists have a unique way of adding subtle meaning through kanji by playing with pronunciation and writing and you can only understand it if you have some basic knowledge of it. With Gackt written lyrics rarely fully coincide with what he sings. As I read the original lyrics to some of the songs I knew by heart long ago I saw a new depth, a secret layer unlocked. Now I finally begin to see the beauty and the hidden meaning in these lyrics and it makes me admire Gackt with a renewed passion. No matter how bad his music may get, he's still the man who wrote Oasis and Lapis and Sayonara and for that I will always respect and admire him.

3HREE VOICES II

What can I say? I don't regret not buying it. All in all the best parts were included in the teasers (except the onsen) and they didn't even include the 'bad scene' filming. Also I really don't get the language usage in the DVD. I mean they mostly talk in Korean, but some parts are in Japanese and the stylist suddenly turns to English when talking about Yoochun.

I. I found Jaejoong's DVD a bit boring, really. I mean, surely it has great aesthetic value, but it's hardly engaging. And even without knowing Korean I got annoyed with him bitching about wanting a girlfriend all the time.

II,III,IV

II. I loved Junsu's DVD the most. And it surprised me in many ways. You know, I never would have thought that a 24-year old man acting like a 4-year old could be anything but degrading. And yet I adore him. In this DVD he is more childlike than I've seen him in a long time. And he even looks younger that a few years ago. But really I've never seen anyone as naturally cute as him. Maybe he finally decided to act like the maknae he rightfully is. And then there are times when he turns naughty like that onsen scene. Ah, Su~ I want to squish him so hard.





III. Yoochun's was... well, very Yoochunish.

I think it would have been better if they made 3 shared DVDs rather than 1 for each member. In was especially stupid to separate the footage of ChunJae playing baseball. I think everyone would love to see more interaction, maybe something like couple talks too.
At the time of TVXQ I had a set rating of members and with JYJ I'm not sure about it any more - it's more like a rotation, each of them has their own charms and they all come forward in turn to impress me.

Feeling nostalgic today. Just out of the blue I downloaded the pilot episode of SeaQuest. It's kind of amazing, I've seen it 14 years ago and I still remember it overall as well as some specific parts. I lived through this series in about 5th grade, I hurried from school every day not to miss it. Mostly because I was madly in love with Jonathan Brandis. Poor Johnny. I only found out about his fate a few years ago and it felt as if a part of me died that day.

Rock Rock Rock

While waiting for further Ripley subs I decided to watch this little drama. It basically tells the story of a legendary Korean rock guitarist Kim Taewon and his band Boohwal, which was pretty much the Korean X-Japan. I don't really know much about Kim Taewon and I'm not interested in Boohwal, but there are many good reasons to watch it:

- No MinWoo
- Good old rock songs and kick-ass guitar skills
- No MinWoo
- Koreans trying to imitate the 70's fashion and trying to sing English songs
- No MinWoo

But mostly No MinWoo. He even looks good with a MULLET, for crying out loud! No one should look good with a mullet. And surely people aren't supposed to look this good when they're on drugs.

GACKT - Episode.0
I long since accepted Gackt will never be as good as he was 10 years ago, but I will always respect him. Most of his music is still very good even if somewhat uninventive. Anyway, it's not even much of a video, but it's still pretty. The song is pretty good too.

L'Arc~en~Ciel - GOOD LUCK MY WAY
I was really worried after hearing mixed reviews about the video, but when I finally watched it I felt relieved. So maybe Hyde doesn't look his best and the video could be better - the song is still so trademark L'Arc which is synonym for very good.

Alice Nine - BLUE FLAME
As always - a good song and a very pretty video. I really like the way they're going with this album. I can't believe I mistook Sho for a chick, but he looks so damn beautiful in that hoodie and make-up.

Now that new, but I skipped it before so... I was quite disappointed in them after Tonight, but this song is not bad. Apparently YG decided to save money on this one. But as is known black&white makes everything dramatic so it still looks stylish.

C.N Blue - Love Girl
Frankly CN Blue didn't quite meet my expectations, but they're still undoubtedly one of the most notable young bands on the Korean music scene, by 'bands' I mean people who actually play their music. Anyway both the song and the video are very cute.

M&D - Close Your Mouth
Since I'm at this... Seriously, WTF? The band should have been called "I'm so gorgeous and Jungmo is not bad too". And the song:"Let's record a third-rate song and show-off my celebrity friends." Honestly I thought better of him.
