I'm quite into BB these days. What do you know?
The first time I actually saw them I thought they suck. Ugly and boring. But I changed my mind. No, they'd never replace DBSK, but slowly they made their way into my playlist and into my heart.
I find most of their music catchy and pleasant. A good mix of pop, hip-hop and R'n'B. Easy listening. One thing YG is better at than SM is giving good lessons of English, or at least that's how it looks. They can sing and rap in it and it's not pathetic and doesn't make me want to kill a squirrel. Taeyang and Daesung are pretty good singers and TOP and G-Dragon are good rappers and it works.
Of course the whole 'nigga wannabe' looks ridiculous (except Taeyang, who actually does a really good job at it), but I can live with that. Also their music sounds surprisingly American and I might be wrong, but to me it seems that if any K-pop act has a chance in US, it's them. Not that I want it.

Another important aspect is the fact that they actually write and compose a lot of their music, most notably their breakthrough hits. You have to respect that.

Apart from the music I quite like the guys. I really was charmed after watching their parody doramas. I laughed like mad. TOP makes such a good dramatic character and Ji-Yong melodramatic character while Daesung and Seungri add a great comical effect.

One thing I really don't like is the insane amount of commercial involvement. It goes to the point where it seems they write songs for CMs and not the other way round. But it's not like its their choice. Apparently YG is not as rich as SM.

I'm really sorry they had a hard time lately. I just found out about the whole: "Seung Ri attending a trans gender strip show at a wine bar owned and operated by G-Dragon's supposed girlfriend" rumour. Not to mention bashing of Ji-Yong because of his controversial fashion and wearing girls' clothes. While I do think he often looks and acts gay, it can be said about half boyband members. They could be transsexual themselves for all I care.

Ji-Y Looks lovely in drag though. And the skit was priceless.



That was just fanservice, of course. But I do like his occasional metrosexual style. Damn, since when am I interested in younger men? I'm just gettin' old...

All in all, these guys aren't extraordinary, but are talented, charming and earnest. Now I can see that they deserve each award and heart they won.

oh, yes they are! I already thought about looking for some fanfics to read, cause until now I've read only Junsu's Demise ^^
