When people saw this picture they immediately went: "OMG! How cool/sweet/hot!" whatever. When I first saw it my thought was: "the photographer did such a good job, their bodies aligned with such an immaculate calculated precision. Just the thing to make fangirls squeal in delight." Sometimes when I look at them I get the feeling they aren't real, just life-size dolls, marionettes created to please the public.

According to Papyrus Chester-Beatty I, Set is depicted as trying to prove his dominance by seducing Horus and then having intercourse with him. However, Horus places his hand between his thighs and catches Set's semen, then subsequently throws it in the river, so that he may not be said to have been inseminated by Set. Horus then deliberately spreads his own semen on some lettuce, which was Set's favorite food (the Egyptians thought that lettuce was phallic). After Set has eaten the lettuce, they go to the gods to try to settle the argument over the rule of Egypt. The gods first listen to Set's claim of dominance over Horus, and call his semen forth, but it answers from the river, invalidating his claim. Then, the gods listen to Horus' claim of having dominated Set, and call his semen forth, and it answers from inside Set...

Utada

Since I resorted to pop music I might as well listen to the best of it.



I discovered Utada Hikaru. Of course, it's not like I haven't heard of her before. It's hard not to. I quite liked her, had a few of her her songs, but it never really went further than that. Until recently that is. I'm charmed. For me she is an embodiment of Japanese spirit in female form, even though she grew up in America (thumbs up for good English. I don't consider her beautiful, she's quite plain, but I like her so much more than Ayumi Hamasaki or Koda Kumi. She has a special kind of dignity about her and her image is sensual rather than sexual and at the same time she has a bit of a boyish appeal. She's Cindy Lauper to Ayumi's Madonna. Also her music, videos and general image remind me of Bjork, who I have tremendous respect for. She too has a distinct ethnic idientity and at the same time there's beauty in her music that is beyond language or race. She's amazing.

Keep Tryin' made my week. It's a great song for starting the day or getting ready or just walking to. It's amazing how such a simple song can give you strenght. And I totally love "You Make Me Want To Be A Man".

I can't believe it. It sucks so much.

In May of 2008, the Supreme Court of California ruled the state was unconstitutionally discriminating against same-sex couples by denying them the "fundamental right to form of a family relationship": i.e. MARRIAGE.

However, in November 3 states, including California and Arizona will be voting on amending their state constitutions to ban same-sex marriage. Florida's ban would go further, and threaten domestic partnerships for unmarried couples, even if they're heterosexual.

Proposition 8 is a proposed constitutional amendment titled Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry Act (Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized), whose proponents intend to override the Court's decision. The measure will appear on the 2008 general election ballot this November.

It makes me sick so much. Protect Marriage my ass.
Now they want to say all those 16,000 same-sex couples who got married since June should just forget it ever happened. It may look like a small matter to some in the view of the Presidential elections, but for those concerned marrying means much more than who rules the country. Just when they finally seemed to succed after so many years, some bigots want to take it away from them.

Back from Moskow. Tired and all, I should sleep some more. But I'm so excited from the wonderful weekend and now it feels even better knowing - some new stuff to watch and 8! very promising fanfics to read. I'm hopeless, but I feel so good. *squeal* Report coming up...

Нет, я знала, что купить рубли у нас проблема, но не знала, что настолько. Это был целый квест "в поисках русского рубля". В первых 5 обменках рублей не было. Вообще. В 6-й рубли обнаружились. Но только 5.000-ми купюрами. Потом я зашла в отделение банка, но там вообще не было валют. И только с 8-й попытки мне удалось купить необходимую сумму. Аллилуйя. Не пойму только - или они никому не нужны или нужны вдруг всем.

SlashCon 2008 - Voting

Результаты голосования прикрыли. Но я успела увидеть достаточною. Наверно, наивно было на что-то надеяться и все же... Как-то я сразу не подумала про принцип выбора. Об объективности, конечно, и речи быть не может. Все дело в популярности фандома.
Имхо, за клипы по ГП и Supernatural пора отдельно отдельной категорией катировать. Их реально слишком много. Сомневаюсь, что были герои, которые просмотрели все клипы. Это просто нереально. То же касается и Джоннизов. И аниме по-моему нужно отделить.

Как бы там ни было, я ожидала лучших результатов для своих работ. И дело ведь не в том, что не нравиться, а в том, что и не смотрят. Вот у клипа Ветер на тот момент был 71 голос и 277 просмотров. А вот, скажем, у моего Ride on Rising Sun 9 голосов на 18 просмотров (и 18 скачиваний). А у Insatiable 36 скачиваний и 15 голосов. Странно как-то. А голосовало на тот момент более 200 человек. То есть из 200 человек только ок. 20 вообще потрудились клацнуть клипы неизвестных фандомов. Убивает такая узкость мышления.

Конечно, не то чтобы я просмотрела и объективно оценила все. Я ущербный альтернативный слешер, ни ГП, ни Supernatural меня не интересуют. Так что их я, в основном, пропустила. Но я хотя бы проклацала большинство и проголосовала за 4(?) клипа из совершенно чуждых мне фандомов. Я старалась быть честной, насколько позволила моя гадкая мелочная сущность.

Но, в конце концов, это лишь зрительское голосование. Будем надеяться на объективность жюри.
