I don’t wanna feel Blue anymore...
WARNING: This post contains pure bitching about K-Pop and TVXQ in particular. If it might hurt your feelings, don't read it.
It began with my Mum asking me: "why aren't you following the other boys?" I cooled down long ago so I thought "why not?". I stopped following them over a year ago probably so I had no idea whatsoever what kind of music they do now. I actually quite liked the first album and felt a little bit jealous because it was so well-produced. I like Maximum and while Why? wasn't that great at least it felt like a natural progression from Mirotic. But it seems things have changed since then. I downloaded several videos and we sat with my mum to check them out. Our verdict? Such a waste of talent and resources.
I Dont Know I mean really the videos and expensive - the sets, costumes and editing are of high quality but the songs... Really lame. I have no idea what's going on in SM but the direction the music is heading... B.U.T. I think it started with SuJu's Mr. Perfect which was just complete rubbish. Shitty digital voice altering, weird choreography and I won't even talk about the styling... it seems the same team works with TVXQ now. Eww. Also Superstar... really, a song with such a name can't be good. Although I think it's a little better than others because at least it's quite catchy. The choreography also seems to have become boring. I have noted the general plummet of quality in K-Pop but I was kinda hoping that TVXQ at least would keep its high standard. I thought slower songs should be better but Duet is just incredibly lame and Yunho's been using his chipmunk voice a lot which sounds really annoying.
I'm just a little bit sad about it but on the other hand it makes me glad I didn't see JYJ boys perform these awful songs. Even the songs they wrote themselves are so much better. Also I keep wondering whether Yunho has changed so much or is it just that my vision of him changed because I used to find him quite attractive but now he looks so average.
Since I'm on it, I should mention other K-Pop artists. Lately there have been a few frenzies. One of them - the Big Bang comeback. I have no idea what the song is like because I have no intent listening to it with them looking like they were styled by colour-blind dudes with Alzheimer's. Green hair? No thanks. Also the Shinee comeback. I couldn't care less but seriously: what's so good about it? I mean I can understand the girls who just want to look at them because they're supposedly cute but epic comeback? Come. on. It would be a good performance for a school festival but... 4 years on and their songs still sound exactly the same. But hey, whatever makes you happy.
Well, all in all once again I realize what a good choice I've made.
