NRaaas mods make Sims x5 times more interesting.

I love how roles and interaction are not random but actually based on sims' traits and all the action is concentrated around the characters I created. I was worried that Saga was going out with some mediocre blond again but she broke up with him. Now he started going out with that old rocker geezer. But he's still the gigolo lol. Nao's going out with that cute Japanese boy I made. But it's mostly the lesbian couples that keep having babies. So RL lol.



But basically Sims are killing me lately. My game keeps crashing every few active game hours. I even tried giving up the stallion, but seems like there's nothing to do. The game is damaged. It's an old Sims problem, but hell the game is fairly new. I can't figure out why it's so bad. But I suppose it might have something to do with the Deluxe Edition. I really don't know what to do now. I've been working on this town for weeks, both facilities and inhabitants. Would be such a shame to start over.
Also today Shou met a unicorn)) The unicorn liked him and he got blessed too! Makes perfect sense to me.

Alice Nine Pimp Post#6 - Pairings

This one took a long time to write because of Photobucket and also because I couldn't make do with just the stuff I had but me being me I did quite a bit of additional research and picture-hunting so now my pairing gallery is now enriched as well) Found some really good stuff so I'm quite proud of myself.
So anyway there are potentially 10 pairings in the band but of course some are more popular than others. I tried to stay mostly unbiased and picked my favourite pictures for each as well as giving a brief analysis.
Note: we don't really have set pairing names as least as far as I know so I just wrote them down using the 'classic principle'))

I don't have much to say about the first three since I can't really see Nao with anyone except Saga but oh well.

Hiroto/Nao
Not much to say here. But they look kind of cute together and Hiroto does like to creep up behind the drum set and kiss Nao during lives. It's really adorable.

Tora/Nao
Same here. The only epic scene of them was on the Vandalize DVD when Nao jumped on Tora for a piggyback ride and then kissed him.




Shou/Nao
Nah-huh. They are both pretty much otaku so they hang out sometimes and they seem to get along well but that's about it, really.




Tora/Hiroto
Now we're getting somewhere. First of all they're both guitarists and that creates some backdrop. They often interact on stage and it looks really cool. Tora is older and more mature so he's kind of in the lead but in terms of music they have different styles and they compliment each other nicely. Their looks also create a contrast which makes good base for shipping) But on a personal level they aren't really close. Their personalities are very different and they don't really hang out.




Saga/Hiroto
This pairing came to prominence about several years ago. Hiroto matured and Saga began to compliment him during interviews and such. They would also flirt sometimes. During one of the Alice9 Channels they wouldn't stop complimenting each other and flirting to the point where Tora began joking: "Are you going out?" On top of that if you watch them interact live they really seem to have a spark.



Now the following 5 are all pretty popular and honestly I have no idea which of them is the most popular.

Shou/Hiroto
They have the most interaction on stage and would kiss each other on the cheek often. Because of that they are very popular as a pairing but I personally don't see it that way. Shou has a sort of motherly instinct (his words) and he seems to treat Hiroto like a son younger brother. Either way it's quite endearing. They don't seem to hang out that often but they are quite close.




Tora/Saga
This pairing seems to be very popular lately despite the fact that the two never do any fanservice and aren't that close. But the main point of their relationship would be rivalry and perhaps that's why. They admit it themselves - whether it's music aor games the two of them would always try to outdo each other. Also I hate to admit it but I do think they kinda look good together. And sometimes Saga flirts with Tora and it's fun because Tora is the easiest to get embarrassed about it. Then again Saga is a slut. He flirts with everyone and he makes a good pairing with any other member. XD



Saga/Shou
They're officially #1 fanservice team and they are damn good at it too. They do it quite a lot and they've done some pretty risky stuff, for a popular band at least. And it's not just on stage. Saga makes some suggestive comments in interviews too. They would often share hotel rooms because Shou claimed "they have similar life cycles". But as people they aren't that close.



Saga/Nao
This would be an OTP I guess. Both of them are a little crazy but somehow they got very close. They seem to be really good friends and hang out often. Seems like they even lived together for some time. They proudly call themselves 'the rhythm section' and sort of intentionally distinguish themselves from the rest. Surprisingly they hardly interact on stage but back in the day they made some fanservice photos and made some very suggestive comments during interviews. All in all very legit)




Tora/Shou

This is my bias so I can talk about them forever but I'll try to make it brief. First of all, I should mention that of all the members they are the two who have known each other for the longest time. They were together in another band before A9 for about a year and it's easy to tell they are quite close. They don't really do what you would call fanservice but their interaction on stage is so precious it's worth more than that. When asked who they would go out with they always choose each other and Shou writes quite often about Tora some posts being quite suggestive but all of them are very warm and affectionate. Also from what I heard in Japan they're an OTP. Not sure about the popularity in international fandom, but I'm doing my best to raise it)

Damn, didn't get much done today. The pairings post is taking forever to finish and I got distracted countless times which is kind of inevitable. Instead my slutty muse came back with a vengeance this evening bringing such vivid detailed images that if I were a guy I'd be walking very uncomfortable. So hello fic#5! I only wrote the prelude so to say but I love it so much. Before I felt wasn't ready to write anything high-rated for this fandom but now I most definitely am. But time to go to bed now, hopefully I will manage get back to it soon enough)

What the hell is wrong with me? First I bitch about all the angst and perversion and now I get a fluffy loving fic and I'm still unsatisfied. I got even more picky with years. Long gone are the days when I would read all kinds of shit just because I was desperate for a fix. But lately I've been especially sensitive to the characterization. There are people who can write decent fics even with valid plot and good smut but if the characterization is off I get bored. Because basically the reason I read RPS is that I want to read the fic with this very pairing, not just two guys who have the same names. Even if it's PWP I find it important that characters act relatively true to themselves. I mean everyone sure has their own images of how they would act but there are things that just make me go "are you kiddin' me?" For one they might be Japanese but they're still men. All the lovey-dovey stuff sometimes makes me wince. I might love sweettalk and dirtytalk but some things sound so completely off I absolutely can't picture them saying it.
When I write fics I try to get into my character's point of view and make him speak and act as I think he would, not as I want him to. I wonder if other writers ever think about it. The funny thing is in this fandom I think the best characterization in a fic was done by a person who wasn't well acquainted with the band.

BUTTERFLY + "9"

These two albums were both released in February so I was going to make a double review right from the start but soon I realized there are actually quite a few similarities between them so it must be fate. I mean just look at the covers! They both have 11 songs, but while in case of Laruku 7 of the songs have PVs and 4 are brand new, with Alice Nine it's vice versa - with 4 PVs and 7 new songs. Seriously, I've been listening to both albums lately and there are some melodies playing in my head that I'm not sure which album they're from.

And now the in-depth analysis.

REVIEWS

L'Arc~en~Ciel - BUTTERFLY

In short: It's amazing. Laruku has done it one again. Surely there wasn't much of a surprise since only 4 songs were not released previously, but listening to the album as a whole is different. This band rocks so hard. Each song is great, each song is a hit. Laruku are too cool to do b-sides, they just write singles right away. At first I was quite suspicious of new songs like XXX and Chase but now I absolutely love them. They're somewhat different from earlier songs but still so unmistakeably trademark. 20 years, 12 albums, not a bad song. Laruku are my heroes. That is all.

Alice Nine - "9"

The long-awaited 5th album. All the fandom is going crazy over it but my case is different. Even though I listened to it several times I still can't grasp it. I mean I can't really see it a whole. Many people say it sounds mature but I got the impression that they attain maturity with GEMINI but didn't stop at it and instead continued looking for something. Basically most songs sound not bad but very raw and messy, like they were trying too hard. I can't even put my finger on it, it just feels something is missing.

It was really hard to pick a favourite and least favourite because for me all the songs on the album can be divided into 2 categories: 'pretty good' and 'not really'. Basically with all the previous albums there were songs that I absolutely loved. Even GEMINI was far from perfect, but it had GEMINI and that alone is enough to make it awesome. Which is not to say I'm disappointed because I tried not to get my hopes up from the start. But the fandom's general exaltation made me wonder if I'm too picky.

Not going to do full track-by-track, just the ones I have something to say about.

HEAVENLY TALE - pretty good but I'm not sure it's complimenting to say the best thing I like about this song is back vocals.

THE ARC - I quite like it, especially the chorus but to be honest with all this pumping rhythm and showy guitars and subtle strings - as a whole it seems too pretentious and unbalanced. Also I really don't like the way it gives way to Gallows. It only emphasizes the impression that the other song was done just by changing the pace a little.

花霞 (KASUMI) really reminds me of Laruku. In a good way. And Shou's vocals are really good. I think he's become even better at high tones and that's probably the only thing about his voice that I really like.

BLUE FLAME - liked it since it came out, but I never really listened to it without the PV. This song has many layers and really deserves to be listened to carefully.

ハロー、ワールド(HELLO.WORLD) - I don't orgasm at the sound of Saga's voice like the rest of the fandom but I quite like the song. It's really unusual and even experimental sort of. I would have thought Saga composed it, it's so atypical for Tora, but I'm glad he got more varied.

虹の雪 (NIJI NO YUKI) - sorry, Shou darling, but I still don't like it. It was also voted as least favourite song by the fandom. But it's just a first attempt so it's ok.

APOCALYPSE [IT`S NOT THE END] - Tora, Shou, it's not nice to steal from Ricky Martin!

すべてへ(SUBETE HE) - it sure is an interesting song and I think it was a good idea to make it into a PV to represent the album. I like how it begins like a ballad and the breaks into rocking full speed! A 2 in 1 kind of. It's kind of epic without being too pretentious. Well, that's Saga for you.

I suppose this review sounds pretty harsh but the truth is it does't make me love the band any less. In a way I'm even glad it's not that good because I already love the guys to an extent that scares me a little. Anyway, it's the first time I'm actually checking Oricon site daily to check how an album's doing. Even if I'm not digging it I know they worked very hard on it and I really want them to succeed.

One of the great things about Alice Nine songs is how they sneakily grow on you. I mean it happened with the b-sides of last year's singles. Like I thought "Ray is such a boring song, why does everyone like it?" and then at some point I found myself going "...Aishiteru wake wa setsumei tsukanai kedo" Later the same thing happened with Nemesis.

It's been 7 years since I first found out about J-Rock. It was a new fascinating world and it changed my life forever. I can't imagine how my life would have been if it didn't happen. But I'm glad it did.

Gackt's Birth Name

I've been wondering about this for, like, 6 years. The kanji he uses for his name seem way too perfect and pretentious to be true. I mean 神威 楽斗? Really? But anyway I sort of gave up on the subject but now I got curious again. It's funny, really. English Wikipedia doesn't say anything on the subject but the Japanese one clearly states the birth name. I talked to Shinoka about it and she confirmed it. It's so starange. I mean 岡部学 is a nice name, really but by now it's hard to associate it with this giant of a man.

I tried to make a sweet romantic photoset last night, but everything was against me. The poses wouldn't connect and somehow there seems to be soo little of them even though I thought I saved quite a lot. Anyway, I ended up making another NC-17 rated set and it turned out pretty hot.

My games keep crashing though. I tried everything, I don't know what else to do. I really wanted to play with that neighbourhod some more, but the analyzer says the save's damaged. Dammit. The photoshoot went fine though.
