A9: Formation

So I shall just write it down for later reference. I get the craving to insert lots of stupid dirty jokes but to avoid contaminating the story I'll replace the slash comments with ^^ Anyway, that is a comprehensive chronological report.

Tora (who wasn't Tora yet) was in some pretty obscure band that lasted for about a year. Then their vocalist left and their guitarist ditched them for Lost Age, the band Shou was in. So by that time Tora noticed Shou and wanted to be in a band with him. ^^ Anyway, he began working as a stage-hand in some live-house looking out for people to form a band with. After some time he heard that Lost Age is going to disband so he used that chance to meet Shou. At that time Shou wasn't sure whether to continue a music carreer, but after meeting Tora he sought to continue. ^^ Thus Givuss was born. That was around 2003.

Shou became friends with Hiroto through mutual friend. Shou told him to come see Givuss play and once Hiroto came and met Tora as well.

Somewhere in early 2004 Nao's band disbanded and he used a certain site to look-up people to find band members until Saga caught his attention. First of all, Nao joined the band that Saga was already in. ^^ But they only had one live before disbanding so they began looking for new members.

So the two couples (couldn't help that one) duos both wanted to create a new band. Actually, Shou wanted to make Nao join his band, but at some point Nao refused and composed another band. It was all set but somehow Shou and Tora's office manager from back then went and treated Saga to yakiniku. And than for some reason Saga just felt he had to join this band. So he told this to Nao and after some arguing they ditched their band and went to join Shou and Tora.

A bit later they all went to a livehouse and saw Hiroto playing and knew they want him in their band. ^^ As they say, the rest is history...

Today my sister saw a fairly innocent artwork I did and said I need psychiatric help. I don't even want to imagine what she would say if she were to find something more compromising, fanfiction or some rated art. She would probably haunt me for the rest of my life. I'm a little scared seriously. How I hate this shit. What sets me off even more is that she forgets all about in in a minute and becomes all nice and cuddly. Isn't that bipolar? Maybe it's her who should see a doctor.

Also I watched a comment where they were asked about their most memorable encounter with a celebrity. Hiroto said Inoran while Tora answered Hyde. Unexpected but nice. And this is from an interview:

Also during that time, all the girls in the area were listeing to L'Arc-en-Ciel's "heavenly". When I borrowed the single and listened to it, their musicianship and vocals had a strong sense on individuality to them. Then, I'm certain that I was really into them so I bought their single "Kaze ni Kienai de". I was also completely into their next song "flower" (laughs).

It was like a gradual feeling, ne (laughs). [ liking L'Arc-en-Ciel ]

Tora: It really was something like that (laughs).

Hmm... I definitely like the arrangement of that poster) They always sit like this during comments anyway. Also Tora's is the most lazy-ass signature I've seen. But then it's Tora. I've also noticed how Tora's becoming more and more bossy. Even in comments and such. This is probably because of his hosting A9 Channel. But if anything I really like it.

I don't really know such thing as regret. I mean sure I really wish I haven't done some things but I know at that time I believed it was the right thing to do and to my younger self there could be no other way. You live life one step at a time, the only thing to choose is now. At some point I realized I can't read all the books or visit all the countries so I will just do what I can for now. It will be a pity if I don't get to do at least some of the things I want to but I can live with it. I don't want to push myself into things just because someone thinks it's the only way to get happy. Bliss too can only happen now.

A9: Life Stories

I've read the A9 personal interviews from Neo-Genesis. It was really exciting. Basically the series was dedicated to childhood, family and generally life before A9. It was kind of surreal how different the stories were and really interesting too. Some parts seemed straight out of manga. I am fascinated by how these people with such different backgrounds came together to create a wonderful band and become good friends. I mean, Nao and Hiroto are almost polar opposite of each other. You could really film a drama based on that or an anime. Like, you know, after the first few episodes there appear episodes that allow a closer look at each of the characters, past and present. That would be so cool.

A plump boy with foreign blood bullied as a child, reaches a boiling point, loses 30 kilos in a year, skips school to practice and becomes a guitar hero.
A cute lively boy always curious about everything, nothing could stop him, hugging his guitar to sleep and getting famous before leaving high school.
A naughty boy who liked to play pranks and wouldn't leave the house without styling his hair, found his place on stage to become an eccentric lewd bassist.
A shy boy who knew nothing but studying, lost purpose and got depressed but found solace in music intent on becoming a good singer and a fashion icon.
A studious nerdy boy, always a class representative, knew nothing about girls and thought Akihabara was dreamland somehow ends up a leader of a Visual Kei band.

And by fate they all meet to and light up the stage and become one of the most successful Visual Kei bands.


Among other things:

- Tora's story was the most amazing. And very surreal. Reminded me of the Rock Rock Rock dorama a bit. Anyway I've got enormous respect and admiration for him.
- I really wonder whether Shou did go to see that teacher after Budoukan.
- Judging from this interview Nao is either gay or retarded. Or both.

These past few months I've had a lot of Japanese exposure. Watching 3 dramas, bangumi, reading blogs, listening to music and translating and it resulted in finding myself thinking in Japanese more and more often. I've been trying to install Jp input on my PC, but so far no luck. Also because of Mireille Alen I have been made to think in my mother tongue more often. So I think in terms of language mentality lately my brain's become something like this:

So in the end I decided to watch all subbed A9 channel episodes. Hmm... I wonder if Tora realizes that every time he says: "I'm not gay!" the suspicion rises a bit more?)

What's the ideal body to you, Saga-kun?

Saga: Ah, yeah. As expected, thin guys are no good.

Tora: A family-oriented man.

Saga: Right, right. Does it seem like the trend in family-oriented men? But I was born with a thin body.

Isn't a slender body good?

Saga: I want a body like Tohoshinki-san have. Even though their faces look sweet, aren't their bodies strongly built? I think I'd want to have a body like that.

Tora: But lately on variety shows and such, aren't the boundary lines very vague? At least riding a rollercoaster isn't strange.

Saga: If I remember correctly, on "Hey! Hey! Hey!" Gackt-san rode one. He generally didn't move and acted as if nothing was happening when the rollercoaster was descending, he was really, really cool.
